Ways To Enjoy Your Alone Time
How to spend alone time.
Spending alone time sounds simple. However, we may not know what to do with simple situations.
Intro
Self-love is basically the act of being kind, patient, friendly, generous, compassionate, etc. The acts of expressing or projecting personal definition(s) of love, onto one’s self.
Self-love through quality time is time set aside to focus you, especially when you’re feeling overwhelmed by emotions. It’s necessary to create time for yourself, even if it’s just an hour.
Specifically, you shouldn’t feel guilty for taking time to breathe, you are a human being, a person not an immortal. You need to chill.
Whether you’re a mother, a wife, a husband, or a worker, you shouldn’t feel guilty about allocating quality time to yourself, there’s no way you can keep running on without breaking down.
You need alone time to yourself to curb emotional dependence. When you spend less and less time with yourself, your emotions tend to be hugely influenced by the people you spend most of your time with.
Identifying your emotion is a great sense of self because you can better decipher your emotions, and navigate through personal and interpersonal relationships.
How to spend alone time
have a defined Purpose.
There must be an intention to spend alone time and it doesn’t always have to be a productive purpose. It can just be for the sole purpose of enjoying your companionship or just resting.
It’s important to note that some people can not spend time alone, and that’s okay, you can ease slowly into the practice. Start small, start with simple tasks, little time frames, just enough that you can take, at your phase.
The purpose behind quality time with one’s self is an act of kindness to yourself. You’re tired from running around all day, doing so many things for so many reasons. You should indeed take time for yourself to do nothing at all sometimes.
Quality time can also be productive.
Use this time to come up with a victory plan, a battle plan, etc. I found also that spending quality time with myself gives me the opportunity to clear my mind blocks.
When I spend time by myself, I’m able to identify my thoughts clearly. I draw a mind map of my goal, pointers to achieving them, etc.
Be honest with yourself during quality alone time
In this moment of time with yourself, be wholeheartedly sincere about your emotions.
You can’t be happy if you’re not honest with yourself. We explicitly emphasize a lot on the benefit of honesty on the journey of growth and personal development.
Firstly, honesty means admitting your actual feelings, being patient, and taking your thoughts slowly. Write your thoughts in a journal or speak out loud to help yourself understand your state of mind better.
Lastly, take your time to analyze yourself, and be responsible for your character and emotions. At this point, your time to see beyond the pride and prejudice clouding your mind in the face of negative emotions.
How to curb unrealistic expectations in yourself
When I find myself riddled with overwhelming negative emotions, taking a time out helps me let out the steam. A long power walk, I’m honest with every emotion I felt. I’m honest about what I did wrong and make plans for amendment, coming up with solutions and compromises too.
Be patient with yourself
I find that sometimes I attempt to spend quality time and it ends up being frustrating due to my restlessness. This is the most important time to be patient with yourself, till your mind decongests.
Undoubtedly, you may still not be able to understand your feelings. Understand that this is a process that doesn’t end at one attempt. It is a way of living, a culture.
Therefore, gently coax yourself every day. Give yourself self-time little by little. Avoid stress during this period, in order to sort out your state of conflicted feelings.
Remove all forms of distractions
Between you and yourself, without opinions and judgment from other people, away from social media, laptops, and phones. Just you and nothing else but your mind
Rid yourself of distractions. This time is dedicated to yourself 100%, with no distractions. No emails from work, no demanding societal role play, nothing.
You might listen to music but please keep the phone away or use a sound system. Dedicate this time to yourself and think of it as giving yourself a due system update or maintenance or servicing.
Do something you enjoy.
You can absolutely spend your quality time engaging in something such as a hobby. Invest in a new hobby, attempt old ones, and boost your creativity.
Maybe something to increase your productivity, or to help you ease your mind. Personally, I really enjoy doing something creative when I’m stressed and restless.
I find that cooking or sewing calms me down a lot. At that moment I’m in control of the whole set, in control of the measurements, the quantity, the look, the design, and the taste. specialization vs generalization
I have a vision of what I want, I control the process. The patience needed to make a whole meal or a full dress gives me time to do some serious soliloquizing. There are mistakes along the way, but there’s also room to correct the mistakes and that’s what growth is about.
